Hello again, I’m back! Can you believe it’s March already? I haven’t done a favourites post on my blog in a while, so I thought that it’s time to make a current favourites one.
My head has also been a whole huge mess of thoughts, so I thought I would use my blog as a space of ‘venting’, maybe sharing my thoughts will help you to attune with your own thoughts and feelings. After all, the worst thing to do when you feel a bit ‘off’ is to pretend that everything is okay, am I right?
I have been WORKING! And of course, still having my driving lessons. Oh yeah, and I also got an agonizing gum infection because of some food that got stuck in my gum (trust that to happen to me ☹). I’m also doing my psychology research apprenticeship and began the preliminary work for my research project – how exciting!
I have been having cycles of trying to succeed on social media (primarily Instagram), those cycles begin with a great load of motivation and end with self-despair and unhealthy social comparisons.
For this reason, I have been avoiding Instagram to escape this sort of tainted world of perfection. As much as I love expressing myself through photography, getting followers is a chore.
At the end of the day, your happiness should not be defined by how many followers you have or how many people validate you. If you learn to validate yourself for who you are, your life would change for the better – I’m still taking my baby steps towards this.
I’m also approaching my 22nd birthday, and I am already suffering from a quarter-life crisis. It consists of thoughts and feelings such as:
‘What is the point of trying?’
‘What is my purpose in life?’
‘Is there any meaning in life or is life just a rat race and then we just die?’
‘How am I contributing to the society?’
It sucks, but I know this is only temporary.
I got the infamous eyeshadow primer potion from Urban Decay during the Boxing Day sales, and alas my eyeshadows are now brighter than ever and last for ages without fading into oblivion!
Nike TrainersI needed some comfy shoes to wear for work. My job involves a lot of walking, and damn I am pleased. These shoes are so comfy! I don’t really care about the brand thing, but I heard good things about Nike quality, I wanted something to last and so far, these shoes have been wearing well!
Most of my midi skirts are in a pencil skirt style, I’m still on a hunt for a nice floaty skirt – Lucy Cole is my midi skirt style inspiration (check her blog!). I think midi skirts look brilliant. Most of mine are either from charity shops or Tkmaxx.
Kate Spade glassesI spend a significant amount of time on the computer working, and as you all know computer screens strain your poor little eyes. I got these glasses a while back, but I started to like them a lot recently.
I stumbled across this wonderful blogger/youtuber, after she left a lovely comment on my blog. Her blog is aimed at personal growth and self-improvement. Anna is a psychology nerd and a fellow introvert. I think that she is contributing a lot to the blogging community. Check out her blog and her YouTube channel!
These are all my current favourites and thoughts. I guess most recently I haven’t been loving a lot of things but thinking in my head instead. If you are also stuck in a vicious cycle of negative thoughts – you are not alone. Cultivate that energy to create wonderful things, express yourself, don’t be stuck in a shell.
