June Favourites and Thoughts

Greetings, I hope you have been enjoying the summer sunshine. The seventh month of the year has come. I know it’s a common saying, but I can’t believe that it’s July already. A new month means that it’s time for reflection and favourites.

June Favourites and Thoughts

What have I been up to?

I have been passionately working on my MSc Psychology research project into the effectiveness of guided imagery for improving well-being. I find the research process extremely rewarding, I think my brain functions well when it comes to Psychology :)

Current Thoughts

My thoughts are focused on adapting to change and new environments.

As my education is looming to an end, I will soon move from Hertfordshire to live with my partner in his family house to eventually save up for a mortgage.

While my partner has got a new job as a Customer Insight Analyst, I’m still finding myself and my purpose. Nevertheless, there are some potential opportunities for me to become a Research Assistant (fingers crossed).

As an individual, I don’t like it when my familiar routines are broken. It stresses me out. Consequently, June has been challenging – I have been afraid of the unknown and failure.

To control these negative thoughts, I have been trying to think of the future. After all, I’m engaged to a loving partner.

On a happier note, I have been blogging for a year now. That has gone quick! Thank you to everyone who has visited my blog.

Beauty

L’Oreal Paris Back to Bronze Matte Bronzing Powder (£8.99) – Without a bronzer, my face looks like a 2-dimensional moon. In order to minimize my ‘moon-ness’, I use this lovely bronzer. It’s a matte bronzer, I think the shade compliments my skin tone.

Stila Colour Correcting Cream SPF 20 (£20) – I found this gem in a beauty outlet store. Unfortunately, it has been officially discontinued, but if you happen to get your hands on it, try it out. This product is sort of a fusion between skincare and beauty. It’s a green cream which helps to neutralize the redness on the skin. It also adds some coverage. Plus, it has SPF – perfect for the hot days!

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion (£17.50) – There’s nothing worse than eyeshadow sliding off your oily eyelids or eyeshadows not being vivid enough. Hoorah for this cult classic primer, my eyeshadow stays on all day. The primer also improves the application of eyeshadows, they do feel a lot smoother and easier to blend out. Totally worth the money.

Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray (£24) – Another product related to ensuring that my makeup lasts. The oils on my skin have been wreaking havoc. Luckily, using this setting spray has significantly improved the longevity of my makeup. It helps to control for those horrible foundation cracks (if you know what I mean). The setting spray lasts for a long time, that’s also a bonus to me!

Skincare

Body Shop Drops of Youth Liquid Peel (£16) – This is such an incredible liquid exfoliator for removing dead skin cells. There is somewhat a debate online whether the residue which appears after using the product is the product itself or dead skin cells – however I am positive that it is the latter. Every-time I use this peel my skin feels refreshed and like it has been ‘reborn’. This is definitely my new stable in my skincare routine.

Fashion

Jumpsuits – I have been obsessed with jumpsuits recently. A two-in-one outfit is practical! Furthermore, jumpsuits are extremely comfortable to wear especially in the summer. New Look has been putting out fantastic jumpsuits recently, perfect for tall and petite figures. I also scour TKmaxx for their jumpsuits as well, they often have great gems.

Miscellaneous

Exciting Emails Podcast – This podcast by the incredible Vix Meldrew has given me a lot of motivation for blogging. It made me reflect on my brand and niche itself. Vix is a fantastic educator. I highly recommend listening to it, even if you are an expert blogger.

Philosophize This! Podcast – This podcast pleases my inner geek. Basically, it describes different philosophical ideas and schools. Highly recommend if you are into philosophy!

These are all my thoughts and favourites for June. What have you been thinking and loving?
Stay focused and positive, fight your fears and don’t be afraid of the unknown because you’ll never know the greatness that hides behind it. Whatever you are facing at the moment, you will succeed.

  9. I've just started listening to Exciting Emails too! I struggle with podcasts as I find it hard to retain information through audio but I did find it really useful so will listen into more. Also sounds like a really interesting project you're doing - I would do the survey but sadly I have a diagnosed mental health issue. Hope you get lots of responses though!
